Who this policy covers
This policy explains how Akkeron South Africa ("Akkeron," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you visit akkeron.co.za or join the Drop 01 waiting list, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). Akkeron South Africa is the responsible party for the personal information described in this policy. What we collect
When you request access to Drop 01, we collect your name and email address, and optionally your preferred model if you choose to share it. That's the full extent of what's collected through the waitlist form today. Once Drop 01 invitations open and orders begin, we'll collect additional information necessary to process and fulfil an order, which may include a delivery address, phone number, and payment-related details. This policy will be updated to reflect exactly what's collected and how at that point, before that collection begins.
Why we collect it
We use your information to confirm your place on the Drop 01 waiting list, send you the waitlist email sequence, send your invitation to pre-order when Drop 01 opens, and respond to any enquiries you send us directly. We don't use your information for anything beyond what's needed to run the waitlist and, later, fulfil an order you place.
Legal basis for processing
By submitting the waitlist form, you consent to Akkeron collecting and processing your information for the purposes described above. You can withdraw that consent at any time by emailing info@akkeron.co.za and asking to be removed from the list.
Who we share it with
We use third-party service providers to run the waitlist and website: an email delivery service, and cloud hosting and database providers. These providers process your information on our behalf and only for the purposes described here. Some of these providers may host or process data outside South Africa; where that's the case, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information receives a comparable level of protection to what POPIA requires. We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
How long we keep it
We keep your waitlist information for as long as you remain on the list, plus a reasonable period afterward for record-keeping if you've placed an order. If you ask to be removed and haven't placed an order, we'll delete your information within a reasonable timeframe.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal information against loss, unauthorised access, and misuse, consistent with POPIA's security safeguard requirements.
Your rights under POPIA
You have the right to ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it (subject to any legal obligation to retain it), object to how we're processing it, and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email info@akkeron.co.za. If you're not satisfied with how we've handled a request, you have the right to lodge a complaint with South Africa's Information Regulator.
Children
This site and the Drop 01 waiting list are not directed at or intended for use by anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect personal information from minors.
Cookies and tracking
This site uses Google Analytics and the Meta Pixel to understand how visitors use the site and to measure the performance of our advertising. These tools use cookies and similar technology to collect information such as pages visited, how you arrived at the site, and actions taken, including submitting the waitlist form. Google Analytics data is processed by Google; Meta Pixel data is processed by Meta, each under their own privacy terms in addition to this policy. You can opt out of this tracking using your browser's cookie settings; doing so won't affect your ability to join the waitlist or use the site.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site and Drop 01 evolve. Material changes will be reflected here with an updated date.
